Kay Scott’s notes on Sophia Charlotte Heinrich’s family (June 2007)

Sophia Charlotte Heinrichen Butow's son Johan (my GGrandfather) was born in Grambow, Kreis Cammin, Pommern, in 1848 when she was 32 years old.  (She had her first child Louise in 1845 and another son William in 1858...but I don't have their exact birthplaces).

I don't have a wedding date for Sophia and Carl Butow (I don't have a place of birth for him, either)...but am wondering if the Heinrich family could have moved from Zirkwitz to the area of Grambow in the NNW part of Cammin after they left Muddelmow.

I have no Butow locale info prior to GGrandpa John's birth and baptism (1848) in Grambow...and that comes from his lengthy obituary in my hometown newspaper...which also says that they arrived in New York on May 12, 1873

He and his wife were both confirmed in 1862 in Nemitz (about 6 miles south from Grambow); they were married in 1872 in Benz (about 4 miles south of Grambow)...all of which tells me that his parents Carl & Sophia Heinrichen Butow must have also been in that area for at least 25 years when they left in 1873.  Probably too much to hope the Heinrichs were there during that time, too.

Their entire family emigrated to the US in the spring of 1873...I don't know the ship name or the German port they left from (probably Hamburg??).
