Glen Heinrich's research notes (June 2007)

There are a number of family historys which have been written in the past few years which involve the Heinrich's - specifically those relating to Gallasch, Seidel, and Kuchel families - and I have been (slowly) collating relevant information from these since my retirement (less than six months ago). I am also doing a similar job with my mother's family (Veale), and attempting to identify and organise my father's photographs (most of which relate to the last sixty years)

My great-great grandfather, Friedrich Wilhelm Heinrich, came to Australia with his wife Johanne Elenore Heinrich (whose maiden name was also Heinrich) and their four children, on the Bremen, arriving at Port Adelaide in December 1847. So far I have no information about the parents of either of these. Both were born in about 1809, Friedrich at "Kleindammer, Posen", and Johanne simply "Posen", Posen being the old name for Poznan, I believe.

So it would appear that your and my antecedents came from the same general area of what is now Poland - but so far I have no information about the parentage or siblings of my ancestors.
